US company Microsoft Saturday in Praia set up a partnership with the government of Cape Verde for the creation of innovation center for electronic governance.
The center, focused on improving the research and development capacities of New Information and communications Technologies, was signed by the minister for the Cape Verdean Presidency of the Council of Ministers and State Reform, Cristina Fontes, and by the chairman of Microsoft Africa, Cheick Diarra.
Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will support Cape Verde in training its staff, equipping schools, providing access to and use of New Technologies and making them common within communities.
The agreement states that Microsoft will only charge Cape Verde the “minimum costs” related to the users’ license for its products.
In return, the company hopes to used the results of its cooperation model with Cape Verde as part of its strategy to conquer the African market.
