Celtel International is relocating its Africa office to Kenya due to the country’s stable economy.
Celtel Kenya CEO, Mr David Murray, said Celtel picked Kenya because of her economic stability and great infrastructure.
“The relocation is a reflection of the country’s improved economy and transport and communication infrastructure,” Murray said.
He spoke after donating 180 mobile phones and airtime worth Sh72,000 to Public Service minister Mr Moses Akaranga at his office.
The phones will be distributed to Provincial Commissioners and District Commissioners to enhance communication during the Public Service Week that runs between August 13 and 17 at the Kenyatta International Conference centre.
Celtel International had announced that it would move its regional office from Netherlands to Nairobi.
Murray said the presence of Celtel International in Nairobi will greatly benefit operations of the Kenyan office and offer several job opportunities to locals.
Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) which owns Celtel, which has a presence in 14 African countries including Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
