HP takes ICT to grassroots in Nigeria, Ghana
As a way of building local capacity in its areas of operation one of the world’s leading technology distributors, Hewlett Packard said it has begun offering its range of retail products through select retail outlets and flagship stores in some key cities in Nigeria and Ghana.
This development according to the company, would help it address the needs of consumers, small and midsize businesses providing them with the industry’s broadest portfolio of products, even as these retail stores are positioned to provide easy purchase options for a wide spectrum of products and accessories from HP’s retail portfolio, including computing, imaging and printing and consumables.
According to HP officials, the company hopes to bring same competitive pricing and aftersales support like it does in other developed markets.
Highlighting the aims of HP in fortifying its businesses in the Nigeria and Ghana axis, the company’s Marketing Manager, Ijeoma Onyiuke said the formal introduction of the retail portfolio in the region is a clear recognition of the growing Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) and home computing in Nigeria especially.
She noted that “the flagship stores will be a major coup for HP because where other brands still struggle to commit to a formal local presence, we are taking the games up with entertainment PCs, gaming PCs and accessories with the much-anticipated range of digital entertainment and SMB products”
For her, HP was leveraging on a hugely successful PC rebranding campaign tagged ‘The Computer is Personal Again’ by expanding its portfolio of digital and high definition entertainment offerings.

Additionally, the company’s online photo service, Snapfish by HP, has released a new software tool that will enable members to bypass the photo upload process and send their pictures to their PCs or Snapfish accounts without a single click of a mouse HP’s home computing products are delivered with HP Total Care Advisor along with Vista PCs.
