In a bid to make banking easier in Zimbabwe, according to ZimTech Steward bank has announced the launch of Square Banking, a banking facility that performs banking transactions on a mobile device. The solution enables customers and businesses to access financial services from anywhere and everyhwere.

Square Banking offers four packages including a Mobile App, a USSD based banking platform, telephone banking and Online banking. The solution intergrates with EcoCash and is zero rated. This means that users can access the platform from their smartphone without using data. The solution uses Econet to leverage their mobile banking. The mobile app is available for downloads on Android and iOS. The app can provide your bank balance, a mini statement as well as prepaid airtime.

ZimTech reports that Square Banking offers ZESA loans for prepaid electricity token for $5. Square banking also allows users to pay bills such as school fees, ZESA, DSTV ZOL etc.

Square banking USSD Banking is available for those who do not have phones with an internet connection. This solution offers the same services as the app. Users can access the service by dialing *210# and following the instructions.

According to ZimTech the Telephone banking solution makes use of a Steward Bank telephone banking representative who via a voice call can help you in performing banking services. To get this service you need to visit a Steward Bank branch or agent and sign up for it. 08677 004 801 is the number to dial when you want to access this service.

With all four solution banking in Zimbabwe has just taken a turn for the better. The innovation takes into account every citizen allowing for people to spend less time in bank queues and more time doing whatever they enjoy.
