Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on 15 October 2026. The game follows five weeks later, on 19 November. Every frame of the 90-second clip comes from a PlayStation 5. It lands after weeks of leaked gameplay that Rockstar never planned to show. Before launch day, three points matter most: what the leaks reveal, what you will pay locally and which hardware you need.
Cyberleek’s clips show unreleased gameplay from a development build, including details Rockstar has kept under wraps. The anonymous person or group has posted footage since August 2026. Rockstar described the leaks as heartbreaking for its team. Take-Two has filed subpoenas with Microsoft and Discord to trace the source.
The new GTA 6 leak from 8 October runs to about 25 minutes and shows a first-person view while driving. Rockstar has not confirmed the mode. Two days later, Cyberleek threatened to post the full story mode once its crypto token hit a set value. The latest GTA 6 leaked gameplay shows snippets of the final missions. The leaker now says the leaks are over, unless Rockstar unmasks it.
If you want to stay spoiler-free, skip these earlier drops:
Local pre-orders put the Standard Edition at R1,499 and the Ultimate Edition at R1,899. Both prices went live on the PlayStation and Xbox stores at midnight on 25 June 2026. The Ultimate Edition adds exclusive vehicles, weapons and clothing tied to Jason and Lucia’s story.
The GTA 6 official price confirmation came from Take-Two on 24 June 2026. At today’s rate, the US list prices equal about R1,324 and R1,655 before sales tax. South Africa’s 15% VAT lifts those figures to R1,522 and R1,903.
The table sets each local GTA 6 price against a straight conversion of the US price.
| 🎮 Edition | 🏷️ Local Price (ZAR) | 💱 US Price Converted (ZAR) | 🧾 Converted incl. 15% VAT (ZAR) |
| Standard Edition | R1,499 | R1,324 | R1,522 |
| Ultimate Edition | R1,899 | R1,655 | R1,903 |
That leaves the GTA 6 price in rands R23 below a VAT-inclusive conversion for the Standard Edition. The Ultimate Edition sits just R4 lower. Local pricing tracks US pricing closely once VAT is added, a point TechCentral also made in June.
The boxed edition holds only a download code, not a disc. BT Games lists this code-in-box version at R1,584. Every purchase made before 20 November 2026 also includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. Console prices move too. Sony’s 2015 PlayStation 4 price drop in South Africa took that machine to R5,499.
You need a PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X|S to play at launch. Rockstar has skipped PS4 and Xbox One entirely. The weaker Xbox Series S therefore sets the GTA 6 minimum requirements. That rules out the PS4, the console that sold out in South Africa in under 24 hours in 2013.
Frame rate is the biggest open question in the GTA 6 specs. Rob Nelson of Rockstar North told a visiting creator that console builds currently run at 30 frames per second. A 60fps option still needs sign-off from the technical team. Sony’s PS5 Pro Enhanced label promises extra polish on that console. A higher frame rate on the Pro is not confirmed, however.
Official GTA VI PC requirements do not exist yet. Rockstar has announced no PC version so far. However, reports point to a PC launch in early 2027. Xbox has also ruled out streaming the game to PC through cloud gaming.
Only if your console has well over 200GB free, because Rockstar is still silent on the official file size. Pre-loading opens on 12 November 2026 for digital pre-orders. A leaked development build exceeds 200GB, though the retail download may be smaller. For comparison, GTA 5 takes up about 95GB on PS5.
The boxed edition needs the same space, since it contains only a download code. A launch-model PS5 offers about 667GB of usable storage, so deleting a few games should free enough room. Xbox Series S owners have the least headroom, with roughly 364GB usable. A 200GB install would fill more than half of that drive. On a 50Mbps fibre line, a 200GB download takes about nine hours under ideal conditions.
The date now looks firm, after Rob Nelson told Famitsu that the game will definitely release on time. Your checklist is short: budget R1,499, check your console and clear storage before 12 November. Local players also get a nod in Leonida, where the AfroBank FM radio station plays Amapiano and other African music. Cyberleek says it has stopped, but spoilers may still circulate, so mute the keywords if the story matters to you.
