Samsung announced this week that it plans on introducing new products – including the next generation of Galaxy smartphones – at its Galaxy Unpacked 2020 launch in San Francisco. The event is set to take place on Tuesday, 11 February. In an official invitation from the company, it says it hopes to unveil “new, innovative devices that will shape the next decade of mobile experiences”.

The invite was accompanied by a short and sleek teaser video which showed the ‘A’s’ in ‘Galaxy’ replaced by white boxes:

“The first box could be the shape of the penta-camera setup on incoming Galaxy S devices, while the second box points to Samsung’s rumoured new clamshell foldable smartphone,” reports My Broadband.

Since the communication of the reveal next month, there has been speculation indicating that instead of naming the S11 as expected, Samsung could rather reveal its flagship model – the S20.

Reports also note that the device following the Galaxy Fold is still to be named – “despite being teased by the company itself – and will reportedly boast a 6.7-inch display and be more affordable than the Galaxy Fold”.

Samsung launched its first Galaxy Fold in February 2019. In a statement to the media, the company said, “We recently unveiled a completely new mobile category: a smartphone using multiple new technologies and materials to create a display that is flexible enough to fold. We are encouraged by the excitement around the Galaxy Fold.

But the devices only went on sale only in September due to a number of defects.
