Global smartphone brand, OPPO has unveiled a prototype device featuring a ‘Waterfall Screen’ design. The device, showcased on Thursday, 1 August 2019, sports an almost vertical 88° curved body — giving a ‘borderless’ effect which is said to represent OPPO’s innovative exploration of form when it comes to mobile phones, as well as the company’s full-screen technology and ongoing pursuit of ‘ultimate’ aesthetics.
In a press release issued by the smartphone company, OPPO says, “for the last 10 years, we have been dedicated to providing products infused with art and innovative technology while focusing on innovating mobile photography breakthroughs”.
Andy Shi, President of OPPO MEA, says, “we believe in giving our customers easy access to premium and innovative technology. The ‘Waterfall Screen’ is a unique fusion of technology and creativity by OPPO, and through this, we are aiming to deliver the ultimate immersive visual experience and innovative aesthetic to our users”.
OPPO has expressed that the ‘exploration of new form factors and materials’ (showcased by the Waterfall Screen) is one of their five major R&D fields. The company is said to have had rich experience in curved display design as they previously unveiled the OPPO Find X which featured a Panoramic Arc Screen design that achieves a screen-to-body ratio of 93.8 per cent.
The press release continues, “OPPO has been in relentless pursuit of the synergy of aesthetic satisfaction and innovative technology and provides customers with a wide range of smart devices. The latest ‘Waterfall Screen’ is one of OPPO’s new achievements in the exterior design of phones”.
