South Africa: Tech and gaming expo to launch in Soweto

Soweto to host the first ever R 20 000 esports tournament.

The township tech and gaming expo, EKasi Esports has announced that the first prize eports tournament will be hosted in Soweto on 28 June at the Soweto Theatre. The tournament will feature popular esports titles on the agenda such as FIFA, Tekken, Street Fighter and Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO) amongst others.

Speaking about the event, Mpho Tladi, i-Village (COO) and member of the EKasi Tech Fest Organising committee said, “We are thrilled to launch our official Esports tournament with great partners such as EKasi Esports and AOC South Africa, the Esports community is incredibly unique. With this tournament, we hope to create an experience unlike any other.”

The Tickets for the Tech Fest Esports Tournament will range from R 80.00 for a day pass, R 150.00 for a 2-day pass and R 250.00 for the tournament participation. There will be a R20,000 prize pool
