Instagram reaches 700 million users

The picture sharing social media platform Instagram announced on Wednesday that they now have over 700 million active users on the popular platform. The company announced this on their business blog.

The platform, which was launched in 2010 and subsequently was bought by fellow social media giant, Facebook, in 2012, has seen rapid growth recently as the company announced that the last 100 million people users Instagram faster than ever.

The rise in users comes after Instagram added new features to the platform. Instagram on their site said that “We’ve made it even easier for people and businesses across the globe to join the Instagram community, share their experiences and strengthen connections with their friends and passions. With new features like stories, live video and disappearing messages in Direct, people and businesses now have more ways than ever to express themselves and feel closer to what matters to them.”
