A human-computer brain interface company, Neuralink aims to help humans keep pace with the rapid advances in AI, and aims to achieve this by integrating AI with human consciousness. Neuralink’s technology will enable human use of AI as an additional faculty – like our sense of selves or other higher in-brain thought faculties.
Founder and CEO of the start up, Elon Musk plans to plant tiny brain electrodes that, initially will be used to fight brain conditions but later help humans keep up with technology. Neuralink tech will make it possible for humans to connect with high bandwith directly into the brain and will replace the way language is used according to a report by Market Watch.
Neuralink’s vision would enable direct communication of concepts between people and one day allow people to communicate using artificial intelligence. Neuralink’s technology will also enable people to upload and download thoughts. This technology is one that is unlikely to happen in the near future.
It is, according to TechCruch, going to take at least “eight to 10 years” before technology the company produces can be used by someone without a disability. Neuralink is aiming to create therapeutic applications of its tech first, which will likely help as it seeks the necessary regulatory approvals for human trials.
