“We have expanded the Asha family with a trio of Smartphones that offer consumers a choice of phone that suits their budget, each with stunning design, great social apps, and new imaging experiences. The new Nokia Asha range will place Smartphone technology within reach of millions of consumers,” says Nokia’s GM for East Africa Bruce Howe.

Of the three models, the 503 is best suited for users with a little more income to spare, as it retails for Kshs 10,500 ($120), features a 5 mega-pixel camera; an LED flash; swipe and one-touch social sharing. The device can connect to mobile networks through 3.5G connectivity and is also scratch resistant.

According to CIO East Africa, “the Asha 502 is the five megapixel camera with swipe technology introduced in earlier models that users swipe up from the lock screen to start the camera and touch anywhere on-screen to take a photo with the option to post an image to Facebook or Twitter with just one touch, making the camera experience more social.”

The Asha 502 will retail for Kshs 9700 ($111) while the Asha 500 will be availabe for Kshs 7600 ($86).
