Is this the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini?

Must Read

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 smartphone, which launched around the world last month, has already broken a number of records in terms of sales and pre-orders. But while the smartphone has yet to penetrate some of the biggest markets, there are already rumours and leaked images of what is ostensibly a smaller version of the hugely popular device.

When ITNewsAfrica interviewed Samsung’s COO for Africa, George Ferreira, about the Galaxy S4, he mentioned that there is another Galaxy product on its way. Without giving any specifics, he said that “I can’t say anything, but when it comes, I’ll take two of them, even if they are in pink,” he said during the interview.

Several initial reports of a Galaxy S4 mini surfaced just before the launch of the S4 and Bloomberg reported that “the unannounced device is indeed coming soon after the flagship makes its appearance at the end of April.”

While Samsung has not officially unveiled the new device (or even mentioned it), the company did provide Bloomberg with comment regarding the matter – and did not exactly deny the claims.“We have not announced the product mentioned in the Bloomberg story,” they said at the time.

However, over the weekend, Weibo user PunkPanda posted images of what he claims to be the S4 Mini, and he has not been wrong in the past – he has leaked Samsung device images before, with surprising accuracy.

According to PunkPanda and other reports, the smaller version of the S4 will feature a 4.3-inch display, a dual-core 1.6GHz processor and an 8MP back camera. It is also expected that the device will be running on Android 4.2.2, and should include all the features currently available in the S4 – although it might feature a smaller battery due to its size.
