Emeka, who is a computer scientist said he decided to embark on the project as criminals were not being brought to book for offences committed.

Emeka recently completed a PhD in computer science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

He explained that if criminals were caught and punished, prospective criminals would have a rethink before venturing into crimes in the country.

He remarked that there was a need for a national data base of criminals, as it would be easily accessible to security agencies in the country.

The scientist however, called on government and private institutions to patronize the Ivory Towers when seeking for solutions to challenges such as provision of power supply, computer software, alternative raw materials enhancement of existing raw materials and staff training.

Emeka called on politicians to always provide funds for universities to carry out research and development in the universities.

  2. if this software has been tested then the public should be furnished with information on how to implement this technology, "the need for a national database of criminals", don't we have this in place already? I mean what have they done with all the criminal records in the possession of the Nigerian police force? Firstly Nigeria don't need a new database but electronic archiving of new and already existing criminal records. Secondly, after Nigeria claimed to have successfully implemented the National Identification System for all her citizen; with this in place then there should be no need for any other kind of database that requires basic information of her citizen e.g. names, occupation, DOB etc; if a new registration precess must carried out then it should be a validation or authentication process, not a totally new database. If the national identification system is well implemented it is more than enough for usage with banks, INEC(the voters cards registration), criminal records, Sim Registration, JAMB etc.The Nigeria problem is not the solution(we have great guys in Nigeria capable of remarkable stuffs) but the developers and users of the solution.

  3. how is that possible? Huh! When we dont even have a database information of all our citizens, what way do you intended to arrest criminals when we don’t have the basic resources.think again!
