Motorola’s Xoom 2 tablet is scheduled to be released in Ireland in December, according to a advertisement flyer – leaving South Africans a bit confused, since the first Xoom only made it to our market earlier this year.

According to Engadget, “The Xoom 2 is smaller than its predecessor with an 8.2-inch touchscreen, and will be available in only one configuration with 16GB of storage. The flyer specifies that the Xoom 2 will still be running Honeycomb, despite the fact that it is launching well after the announcement of the next version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich.”
Most new Android devices are getting ready to ship with Ice Cream Sandwich and it would be understandable if Motorola launched the updated tablet with ICS as their flagship device, so the move to launch on Honeycomb might suggest something bigger is coming in the next few months.
There is no mention of the Xoom 2 on either the local or the US Motorola website.
