As news broke that South Africa will be getting dedicated servers for Epic Games’ Gears of War 3, Microsoft’s Major Nelson had an announcement of his own.

“Microsoft and Epic Games announced RAAM’s Shadow, the new campaign experience for the award-winning blockbuster, Gears of War 3. Starring a cast of characters both new and eerily familiar to the series, RAAM’s Shadow will deliver more than three hours of gameplay set in a storyline that precedes the events of the first Gears of War, as well as six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate Weapon Set and an additional 250 Gamerscore,” he wrote on his blog.
He also mentioned a released and price. “RAAM’s Shadow will launch Dec. 13 for 1,200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, marking the second major game add-on for this year’s critically-acclaimed blockbuster”.
As for the dedicated MWEB servers, MWEB said in a statement that they are excited about the launch. “We know there are a lot of South African gamers playing Gears of War 3, so we’re really excited about making servers available to GameServers.com. With these servers deployed locally, players will no longer experience the higher latencies associated with connecting to international servers, which should make the game play experience so much better,” said Desmond Kurz, online gaming manager at MWEB.
