Telkom announces uncapped data plans

Telkom executive for Converged Business Services Steven White has announced that Telkom will be offering customers a wide range of uncapped ADSL products for home use.

The Do Uncapped products will remove all restrictions on data volumes, which Telkom says will satisfy their consumers’ growing appetite for more media and online content.

As to why it’s only being done now, White said that they have watched the current market, and learned from it. “Telkom has observed industry trends and analysed data usage patterns to develop an uncapped product that delivers a quality and sustainable service,” he said, while making the announcement at the annual rAge expo.

There will however be certain restrictions on different packages. The Do Uncapped 385kbps and 1Mbps is subject to daytime speed restrictions outlined in Telkom’s Internet Acceptable Use Policy. But the 4Mbps line can be used without any restrictions or throttling.

“Meeting our consumer’s expectations for data usage today remains our priority, however the company remains equally committed to innovating towards the demands of tomorrow,” White added.

The products on offer are:

* Do Uncapped 384kbps (R219 + R152 line rental = R371)

* Do Uncapped 1Mbps (R369 + R289 line rental = R658)

* Do Uncapped 4Mbps (R2097 + R413 line rental = R2510)
