MTN Business today celebrates the integration of UUNET Zambia into its stable-house in a move set to improve the competitiveness of Zambia’s businesses sector through offering them world-class telecommunications solutions.
The integration, which follows MTN’s acquisition of 100% of the major shareholder of UUNET Zambia in 2009, gives MTN Business the opportunity to step up the competitive factor of Zambia’s entrepreneurs and businesses – large and small.
MTN Business is a wholly-owned division of the MTN Group, Africa’s largest telecommunications operator with nearly 130 million subscribers in the region and in the Middle East.
As part of the acquisition of UUNET Zambia, an array of key structures and network transitions have been implemented to deliver standardised service and seamless integration for customers. This has culminated in the official name change to MTN Business Zambia in line with MTN Business’s vision to drive industry competitiveness and give customers quality offerings and solutions.
“The MTN brand is all about leadership, innovation, can-do, relationships and integrity. Today we are proud to bring this brand ethos to the Internet service provider sub sector in Zambia. This re-brand reiterates MTN Business’s commitment to offer corporations across Africa and other emerging markets our “360 degree” service offering – an approach designed to give clients peace of mind in their communication needs, pinned on reliability and availability,” says Angela Gahagan, managing executive of MTN Business.
“In addition, we will be offering Zambian organisations that have Internet access circuits a significant saving with our revised pricing. This offer is valid as of today and our network is fully prepared for any increased bandwidth requirements from customers who wish to explore our pan-African and global offerings,” says Patrick Ndegwa, country manager for MTN Business Zambia.
Although MTN Business Zambia (formerly UUNET) and MTN Zambia (Mobile) will remain as two separate entities, the synergistic relationship between the two companies will continue to exist going forward, especially as IP and mobile technology head towards convergence.
“With the Pan African and global reach of MTN Business, we are uniquely positioned to assist with the complex and diverse solutions required by our customers and are delighted to continue this vision by integrating Zambia into our stable-house,” concludes Gahagan.
MTN Business is focused on providing business communication solutions to both small and large businesses as well as the public sector.
