ACS Angola have extended their agreement with French-based firm Eutelsat, concluding a new five-year contract for capacity on Eutelsat’s W7 satellite, Africa’s newest satellite resource.
The deal was announced by both companies at the SatCom Africa conference and exhibition, which began today in Johannesburg.
According to the contract, ACS Angola, one of the country’s suppliers of IT solutions and corporate network connectivity, will lease 45 MHz of the W7 satellite capacity, enhancing the communication service established in 2005 on Eutelsat’s W3A satellite.
The extended capacity will support the growing demand for data communications in the country, allowing the ICT service provider to expand its commercial services to public agencies and businesses operating in various industries across Angola.
Edgar Martins, General Manager of ACS: “Expanding the services that we have been providing to the business community in Angola, both for VoIP and data communications was very important for ACS and this new deal with Eutelsat made it possible. For this reason, the new W7 satellite is an important asset for ACS”.
Launched in November 2009, W7 is Africa’s newest satellite resource, providing high-power coverage in the Ku-band for sub-Saharan Africa. According to Olivier Millies-Lacroix, Eutelsat Commercial Director, W7 satellite is bound to contribute to broadcast services, enterprise networks and Internet connectivity across Africa, meeting the continent’s requirements for enhanced data services.
