Mohammed Omran, Etisalat’s Chairman
Etisalat’s Chairman, Mohammad Omran, addressed industry counterparts when he made an urgent call to maximize their content reach worldwide, embracing the digital era in the same way the music industry did.

According to zawya.com, Omran said a similar model would be effective for content providers to reach billions of customers at a fraction of the cost.

“Previously, selling 10 million albums or CDs would be considered a success. Today, with the digital environment music providers are able to reach a billion customers at a fraction of the cost. This opens new markets and creates new opportunities. We are ready to work with other content providers to provide the solutions that will open new markets in the same way,” Omran said. .

Nigeria’s newest telecom operator, Etisalat, has recently announced its expansion plans for 2010, targeting a client base increase from 2,6 million to 4 million and a further investment of $700 million into the company’s network infrastructure.

The company is also focused on supporting education, working with the UAE Ministry of Education to connect all schools in Nigeria with broadband Internet.
