Mandela HIV/AIDS project gets new web site

Must Read

mandela_46664.jpgThe 46664 project which is dedicated to spreading awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and is endorsed by South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela, has launched its new web site.

This has been done in an effort to enhance communication and fund-raising initiatives undertaken by the organization and its affiliates.

“One way to achieve this (raising HIV/AIDS awareness) is to have a world-class website that helps to convey the message to people around the world. To this end, 46664 is pleased to announce that its various websites (46664.com, 46664global.com, 46664.org.za and 46664.es) are now operating from one global domain, 46664.com,” the organization said in a statement.

Based on the ideals Nelson Mandela, whose prison number was 46664, the campaign began in 2002 when Mr. Mandela realized that in order to teach the youth of the world about the HIV/AIDS epidemic, he needed to engage the support of the people who most appeal to them. The campaign was successful in getting the support of many popular artists and celebrities, including Will Smith, Bono and Alicia Keys among others.

The new site will also contain information on future concerts in what has become a successful series of live events held to raise money in support of the organization’s activities.

The site can be found at www.46664.com.
