World soccer governing body FIFA has announced that football fans are still able to purchase tickets online for the much anticipated FIFA Confederations Cup match between World Cup holders Italy, and Brazil.
The organisers said that fans can still apply for these tickets after some companies that had previously requested tickets, did not purchase all the tickets initially applied for.
Says FIFA spokesperson Delia Fischer: “Fans who had been hoping to purchase FIFA Confederations Cup tickets for the eagerly anticipated clash between World Champions, Italy and Brazil have been thrown yet another lifeline. As some of the corporate customers did not use their full ticket quota, there is a small quantity of category one tickets available for the clash on 21st of June at Loftus Versfeld Stadium between Brazil and Italy, which was announced to be sold out two months ago,”
“These Tickets can be purchased online at www.FIFA.com, over the phone with a payment card or purchased over the counter at any FNB branch or at any FIFA Ticketing Centre (addresses can be found at www.fifa.com).”
More than 68% of available tickets (around 400 000) have been sold so far, Fischer said. South African fans can call the Ticketing Hotline 083 2010 010 for queries, while international fans can use the enquiries@2010FWCTC.com e-mail address.
The two week-long FIFAConfederations Cup, the second biggest football tournament in the world, will kick off in South Africa on June14.
