FIFA announces over-the-phone ticket sales

FIFA, the world’s football governing body, said it was now possible to order Confederations cup tickets over the phone.
It said the move was aimed at increasing ticket sales for the tournament, which starts in South Africa next month.
“South African residents will be able from Monday, 11 May 2009, to purchase FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 tickets by calling the Ticketing Call Centre on 083 2010 010. The lines will be open from Monday to Friday. The Ticketing Centre can also be contacted in case of enquiries related to a ticket order,” said FIFA.
“This is in addition to the Ticketing Centres which are open seven days a week.”
The ticketing centres are in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Rustenburg.
In total, about 350 000 tickets have been sold so far. 290 000 tickets are still available.
The Confederations Cup will be held in Africa for the first time.
