Government in-fighting over the transfer of Zimbabwe’s Communication portfolio from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology to the Ministry of Transport has yet to be concluded.
The portfolio has been moved from Minister of Information and Communication Technology Nelson Chamisa, a Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party member, to a minister loyal to Robert Mugabe’s ZANU-PF party.
Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirayi slammed the move and told the media it flew in the face of the unity agreement reached between the two parties last year.
“The announcement by Misheck Sibanda (Mugabe’s secretary) does not only fly in the face of the letter and spirit of the Global Political Agreement but is also an illegality as the GPA has legal effect,” he told media.
Under the agreement, Tsvangirayi’s MDC was allocated the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, which Chamisa headed.
