SA Communication Minister dies

According to various press reports South Africa’s Minister of Communications, Dr. Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, died last night at a pretoria hospital.

Various spokespeople from branches of government, including the Ministry of Communications and the Presidency, expressed condolences and praise for the deceased public servant.

Matsepe-Casaburri, who was born in South Africa’s Free State province, has been actively involved in the country’s Information and Communication Technology sector since her return from political excile in 1990, including holding senior positions in the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Matsepe-Casaburri was 71 years old.
