Zimbabwe has for the past few weeks experienced serious internet connection problems due to unavailability of the servers managing the Southern African country’s domain routing.
Players in the information and communication technology sector said the problem is caused by failure of the International .zw Internet Database Server.
“The source hosts for .ZW domains are managed and housed by TelOne and for various reasons, these servers have not been reachable internationally for some time. The .zw name has now almost completely dropped from the Internet,” said a Harare-based ICT expert.
“These problems have affected all .zw URLs and email addresses, including those ending with .co.zw, .org.zw, .ac.zw and gov.zw,” she added.
