Nokia, global market leader in volume of mobile handsets sold, announced on Wednesday the arrival of new Nokia Music Stores, including plans for one of the stores to be introduced to the South African market.
Nokia Music Stores give customers an online portal where music can be browsed and purchased directly from Nokia mobile handsets.
The announcement was made in conjunction with the launch of new Nokia “Comes With Music” handset models, the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, Nokia 5330 XpressMusic and Nokia 5030.
Says Jo Harlow, Head of Devices at Nokia: “We have sold more than 425 million devices with a digital music player and more than 700 million devices with an FM radio, which clearly shows that the mobile phone is the natural device for listening to the music and carrying it with you,”
The date for the launch of the South African Nokia Music Store is yet to be announced.
