Nokia cancels shares held internally

NOKIA, the mobile phone manufacturing giant, has registered its decision to cancel all shares held internally within the company, at the Finnish bourse.

In a statement, the company said: “Pursuant to Nokia’s decision announced on March 19, 2009, the cancellation of 56 000 000 shares held by the Company has been registered with the Finnish Trade Register on Wednesday. Thus, the total number of shares and votes in Nokia Corporation is now 3 744 948 552”

The cancellation of shares does not have an effect on Nokia’s market capitalization.
