Econet introduces new dollar based recharge cards

ZIMBABWE’S biggest cellular network provider, Econet, has pledged to continue rolling out new innovative products designed to improve affordability and to give customers access to new mobile technologies.

This follows the introduction of a new Strip 5, a new five-in-one recharge card, weeks after companies in the sector were granted permission to charge for services in foreign currency.

The new recharge card is denominated in US dollars, giving the customer more choice in the value and currency of airtime they want to buy.

Says product brand manager Maureen Mutsonziwa:” “The card can be purchased as whole, for either $5 or $10, but we are giving the customer the choice to buy the number of to suit their needs,” and continues “Our customers are unique individuals, and this product intends to meet their unique needs.”

Part of this rollout has seen Econet also reducing the charges for standard SMS text messages.
