Chams Nigeria, an electronic solutions company listed on the telecommunications sub-sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, has pumped a total of 350 million Naira into its data centre.
The company said the investment in its Lagos and Abuja-based data centre was made through its newly-created subsidiary ChamsAccess, whose board was inaugurated recently.
“ChamsAccess Limited was born out of the need to bridge the perceived information gap in the country and to provide the consuming public with the quality and convenience of services they deserve,” said the chairman of Chams Nig. Plc, Adebayo Akinde.
It is hoped that ChamsAccess will achieve this through the deployment and maintenance of self service terminals and e-payment platforms to operate around the clock.
“The company will also deploy and sell automated teller machines, thus the ChamsAccess vision is to be the world class company that provides the most convenient way to interactive solutions including bill payments, telephone, internet services, e-ticketing and boarding,” said Akinde.
Furthermore, Akinde hinted that Chams was a beneficiary of the concession awarded by the Federal Government to issue new identity cards, stating that the chip-based identity cards with fully-fledged biometric data capture will have payment capabilities, which will run on the ChamsSwitch backbone on the back-end. The front-end interface will be supported by the infrastructures on ChamsAccess–ITNewsAFrica.
