Accuris Networks, Kenya’s QuickTel clinch mobile communications deal

ACCURIS Networks, a global leader in mobile roaming solutions, has signed an agreement with Nairobi headquartered telecommunications company QuickTel to target the rapidly growing African cellphone market.

Under the agreement, QuickTel will distribute Accuris Networks’ roaming products to mobile operators through its subsidiaries in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Nigeria.

Accuris Networks’ products are aimed at mobile operators who want to boost inbound and outbound roaming revenues to increase ARPU, reduce operational expenditure and retain customer loyalty.

The AccuROAM™ platform enables operators to extend their international reach by offering subscribers seamless roaming between the disparate CDMA, GSM and WiFi technologies.

The AccuROAM™ platform can also be used to provide a GSM roaming broker service that will allow new or existing GSM/UMTS mobile service providers to access an immediate global roaming capability without the need to form hundreds of bilateral roaming agreements.

Network operators also have the option to combine AccuROAM™ with the powerful AccuPROFILE™ OTA technology allowing automatic detection and configuration and reconfiguration of customer devices.

It continues to be a pioneer in the provision of standards based inter-working platforms to enable roaming between second and third generation CDMA, TDMA and GSM based systems, as well as next generation IMS, WiFi and WiMAX networks,” he said in a statement.

“Together with QuickTel we are targeting new business opportunities in both CDMA and GSM – a market that is set to grow in Africa by almost 90 percent from 290 million subscribers to 540 million over the next four years,” said Aidan Dillon, chief executive officer of Accuris Networks.
