Kenyans to benefit from Microsoft Initiatives

KENYA is set to benefit from the recently launched Microsoft human development program aimed at familiarizing people with technology.

According to Kenya’s Microsoft platform manager Emmanuel Birech, the world renowned company has introduced three programmes, namely Empower, BizPark and Student2Business, which will enable aspiring software entrepreneurs in the country to start their own business projects in software development, information and communication technology.

Birech said Microsoft would encourage and support initiatives by Kenyan youths, particularly those who are involved in software development, and also select the deserving and outstanding children from educational institutions to be seconded to renowned technology organizations.

Of the three programmes launched in Kenya, BizPark would help identify potential software entrepreneurs who need access to software, while Empower programme will increase the rate of development of new IT companies.

Kenya, dubbed East Africa’s technology powerhouse, is reportedly pouring close to Sh3 billion into information and communication technology development programmes to boost the country’s communication systems as well as the economy in general.
