A unique cellular backhauling device from RAD Data Communications has been named a finalist for an AfricaCom 2008 Award.

RAD’s ACE-3205 multiservice cell site gateway was cited in the Network Quality category. The ACE-3205 accommodates the rapid expansion in cellular backhaul traffic due to the deployment of new mobile broadband services. “This is a perfect example of how RAD’s innovative technology leads the industry in advancing network quality,” notes Noam Dor, Director of Sales for Africa at RAD Data Communications.

The ACE-3205 significantly improves mobile quality by simplifying service provisioning and control by enabling the simultaneous delivery of GSM, UMTS and HSPA traffic over the same transport network. The advanced capabilities of the ACE-3205 permit operators to implement overbooking strategies, optimize network optimization, conserve existing resources, and reduce the number of leased lines required to support their network.

Awards winners will be announced on November 18 at the AfricaCom 2008 Awards Gala Dinner in Cape Town. AfricaCom is the premier pan-African communications event. Now in its eleventh year, AfricaCom comprises both a high-level conference and a co-located exhibition.
