Kenya wants tough stance on cyber crime

Must Read

samuel_phogisio.jpgTHE High Level Segment Information Technology Summit entered its second day today with Kenya’s Information and Communications Minister Samuel Poghisio calling for tougher action against cyber crime.

“Threats from cyber crime are real and the world should move fast so that information can flow without any danger,” he told delegates at the event in Geneva Switzerland.

Phoghisio said more than four billion people connected to Information and Computer Technology networks should be protected from organised groups who pounce on them to make money through scandalous means largely on the internet.

He said the Kenyan government was playing a key role in the fight against the scourge by developing a legal and regulatory framework on privacy, e-security, and cyber crime.
The High Level Segment Information Technology Summit opened on Thursday in Switzerland and attracted ICT experts and stakeholders from around the world.
