MIDDLE East telecommunications giant, Etisalat, has introduced commercial services in Nigeria, as it continues with its expansion programme.
Etisalat’s vice president in Nigeria, responsible for marketing, Wael Ammar, said his company has 74 million subscribers in more than 17 countries from around the world, but predominantly in the Middle East.
“We have in place a network rollout strategy which will be to cover the entire geographical spectrum of Nigeria in phases,” said Ammar in his speech at a function to announce Etisalat’s arrival in the West African country.
He said Etisalat would intensify its operations, particularly on data, voice and innovative value added services in the country’s seven major cities, namely Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Ogbomosho.
“Our aggressive network rollout will continue swiftly to a second phase, covering several other cities and enhancing coverage in areas where services has already been launched,” said Ammar.
Atisalat is the fifth GSM company operating on telecommunications in Nigeria and it keeps expanding.
Among other new communication technology to be launched includes Homezone , a system that enables subscribers to choose the zone where they can spend most of their time for low tariffs as well as enabling direct recharge for the calls made during communication.
