MWeb Africa launches VoIP services

Mweb Africa launched a voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services for the African continent that will allow VSAT customers to make and receive voice calls to or from anywhere in the world at low rates.

Calls to other MWeb Africa VoIP customers will be free of charge. This service is offered in 14 countries and MWeb is hoping to expand its distribution channel to more countries.

CEO of MWeb Africa, Harry Aucamp, said that the VoIP solution has been programmed to work efficiently over its platform, through a feature that reserved bandwidth specifically for voice services.

The VoIP services are only available on VSAT platform, MWeb Africa plans on also extending the service to WiMAX infrastructures. It will be the quickest and most reliable way to access the internet in Sub-Saharan Africa.
