Dell Technologies has launched Dell PowerStore Elite, a next-generation storage platform designed to help enterprises modernise infrastructure, improve performance, and simplify operations in an increasingly data-driven world.

Built to support block, file, virtual machine, and container workloads, PowerStore Elite combines advanced software innovations with refreshed hardware architecture. The platform enables customers to upgrade storage environments without disruption through mixed-generation clustering and non-disruptive modernisation capabilities.

As organisations contend with rapid data growth, expanding AI workloads, escalating cyber threats, and evolving infrastructure demands, Dell positions PowerStore Elite as a future-ready solution that delivers both performance and flexibility.

PowerStore Elite introduces software-driven enhancements that provide up to three times greater performance and network throughput compared to previous-generation systems. New intelligent technologies optimise both TLC and QLC flash storage, allowing organisations to choose storage media based on capacity and cost requirements without sacrificing performance.

Additional software improvements include enhanced data reduction, advanced compression capabilities, and detailed I/O-level telemetry that offers deeper visibility into storage operations. Dell says these innovations improve efficiency while laying the groundwork for future inline ransomware detection capabilities.

The new platform is powered by Intel Xeon Scalable processors, DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen 5 support, and a high-speed 200Gb RDMA node interconnect. Available in PowerStore 1500, 5500, and 9500 models, the system can scale to 5.8 petabytes of effective capacity within a compact 3U chassis, delivering significantly higher storage density than previous generations.

A key differentiator is Dell’s new 6:1 data reduction guarantee, an improvement on its previous 5:1 commitment. The guarantee helps organisations maximise storage efficiency and reduce long-term infrastructure costs while addressing ongoing flash storage supply challenges.

PowerStore Elite is also designed to simplify ongoing storage modernisation. Existing PowerStore customers can seamlessly integrate new systems into their environments, migrate workloads without downtime, and scale capacity or performance incrementally as requirements evolve. Dell’s Lifecycle Extension programme further supports long-term modernisation through data-in-place upgrades and dedicated technical support.

Artificial intelligence plays a central role in the platform’s management capabilities. Dell says built-in AI-driven automation can reduce manual administrative effort by up to 95%, while AIOps features provide predictive insights, performance optimisation, and automated capacity planning. The new Dell Cyber Detect capability extends AI-powered ransomware detection to PowerStore, helping organisations identify threats and rapidly recover clean data.

According to Arthur Lewis, President of Dell Technologies’ Infrastructure Solutions Group, PowerStore Elite represents a significant leap forward in performance, density, and flexibility, providing enterprises with a storage platform built to evolve alongside future workloads and business demands.

Dell PowerStore Elite will be available globally from July 2026, while Dell Cyber Detect for PowerStore is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2026.
