Checkers Sixty60 has delivered a standout performance during its Early Black Friday online-exclusive promotion, setting new records for daily orders, product pick rates, and on-time deliveries. The four-day promotion, which ran from 20 to 23 November, reaffirmed the platform’s ability to deliver speed, accuracy, and reliability at scale—even under intense nationwide demand.
The surge peaked on Saturday, 22 November, when Sixty60 broke its all-time daily order record. Across the promotional period, the platform maintained exceptionally high operational standards: 7.5 million products were picked and delivered; 97.6% of customers’ first-choice items were fulfilled in full, surpassing its 2025 average of 96.8%; and 95.3% of orders arrived on time, ahead of the annual benchmark of 94%. Shoppers also received their groceries at remarkable speed, with an average delivery time of just 33 minutes. More than 1.9 million users visited the app over the four days, reflecting the growing national appetite for on-demand delivery.
Beyond operational performance, customers saw meaningful savings. A total of 4 791 products were offered at prices lower than last year, while Xtra Savings members saved 114% more year-on-year during the Early Black Friday period—solidifying Sixty60’s positioning as both fast and affordable.
“It’s easy to market convenience and low prices, but it’s another thing entirely to maintain speed, accuracy, and scale during one of the busiest retail periods of the year,” says Neil Schreuder, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer for the Shoprite Group. “These results speak directly to the trust customers place in Sixty60 to deliver and our teams’ ability to meet that promise.”
Grocery staples once again dominated the best-seller lists. Cheese, rice, chocolates, and coffee ranked among the most-purchased items, while leading deals included Clover Gouda and Cheddar, Cadbury slabs, Nescafé Gold Instant Coffee, Butro spread, and Tastic Long Grain Rice.
However, 2025 also marked a milestone: the first inclusion of Sixty60’s expanded general merchandise range in its Early Black Friday promotions. Shoppers responded strongly to substantial discounts on premium, big-ticket items. Top performers included the Snowmaster camping fridge, Robotic Zodiac pool cleaner, Dyson floor cleaner, Doona car seat, and HTH chlorine—demonstrating growing customer confidence in Sixty60 for more than just everyday groceries.
“We’ve worked hard to evolve Sixty60 into more than just a groceries app with competitive prices,” Schreuder adds. “This Black Friday shows customers are increasingly turning to us for high-end brands and general merchandise too—and that we can deliver both affordability and reliability across the board.”
