Payfast, the company, has rebranded to become Network International. The popular online ecommerce payment platform, formerly known as Payfast, is now ‘Payfast by Network,’ integrating the platform into Network International’s extensive range of payment solutions while maintaining the same established PayFast experience.
Quality experience maintained
Southern Africa Regional Managing Director for Network International, David Adams, says “Our partners, merchants, and consumers can expect the same quality payment experience from the ‘Payfast by Network’ ecommerce solution. This platform significantly expands the resources at our disposal to deliver innovative, best-in-class products and services to help South African businesses grow to their full potential.”
Payfast, the favored provider of swift and secure ecommerce payment solutions to the South African market since 2007, was acquired by the Network International group in 2021. As the primary facilitator of digital payments in the Middle East and Africa, Network International has rebranded the payment processing company Payfast under the parent brand ‘Network International.’ This move underscores the company’s commitment to introducing new digital payment offerings in South Africa.
Servicing merchants across African continent
Group Managing Director for Merchant Services in Africa at Network International, Mpho Sadiki, adds that “At Network, our offering is centred around a unified payments experience that allows merchants across Africa to provide their customers with the fastest, most frictionless checkout process possible. Leveraging access to the vast Network ecosystem of global expertise, resources, and capabilities, we can ensure that the breadth of payment methods is available to end-consumers, regardless of whether they are buying online or in-store, and that our products and services will continue to grow and keep pace with evolving market needs.”
For over 30 years, Network International has been facilitating the shift from cash to digital payments throughout the Middle East and Africa. Currently, Network supports over 120,000 merchants and more than 200 financial institutions and fintech customers across 50 countries. It stands as the sole pan-Africa digital payments entity with a footprint in over 40 countries, encompassing key markets such as South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria. Network’s reach extends to over 80 percent of the African population, championing and propelling Africa’s journey toward financial inclusion.
Tailored solutions
Network continues its dedication to empowering South African businesses by harnessing the profound understanding of the local economy held by its local team. “Payments are inherently local – servicing a market like South Africa remotely isn’t feasible. We address a variety of distinct challenges by tailoring our solutions accordingly. We firmly believe that to operate effectively at a local level, you must be physically present. Hence, all our offices and essential staff are based here, enabling us to provide top-tier localized services,” says Adams
The evolution of Payfast into a Network solution strengthens expectations of exponential growth in South Africa’s digital payment landscape over the next few years.
