SystemSpecs, a Nigerian fintech and provider of Remita, and Paga – the foremost mobile money service providers in the country – have partnered together in the hopes of extending the frontiers of electronic payments in Nigeria, report Vanguard Nigeria.
This comes as Nigeria adhere to social distancing, remain at home and attempt to remain safe in the face of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
The first phase of the collaboration would enable Paga customers to easily initiate and complete payments to all Remita billers and merchants right from Paga’s web channel.

In return, Paga agents nationwide will also be able to process end-to-end payments to all Remita customers from their platforms.
Since the partnership was announced, it has been applauded by industry enthusiasts and is expected to chart the path for deeper cooperation within the fintech ecosystem in Nigeria. Together, this makes electronic payments a more attractive service, as well as a less stressful service for customers irrespective of their needs and locations.
Jay Alabraba, co-founder and Director of Business Development for Paga, says “In our commitment to make payments easier for all Nigerians and businesses, we are pleased to collaborate with SystemSpecs. Our goal is to always provide an improved experience to our customers everywhere, by leveraging digital technology. This collaboration would further help us meet the needs of individuals who seek to make various bill payments, including those in emerging markets.”
Vanguard Nigeria speculates that the immediate impact of the partnership on the public will be the easy generation of Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) and payments into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account. The partnership will also enable payments to other Remita billers such as state governments, tertiary education institutions and other organisations by Paga customers and agents.
