On 14 September 2019, communications solutions provider Talia Limited announced that it has strengthened its long-term collaboration with Arabsat, a satellite operator. Talia Limited operates in the Americas, the Middle East, Europe and Africa. This collaboration extension will see the addition of further C-band capacity across the Middle East and Africa.
Under this new agreement, Talia will add BADR-6 services to its satellite coverage portfolio of Ku, C-band and Ka solutions while allowing the company to deliver full C-band redundancy to clients in the MENA region. This collaboration will increase Talia’s capacity on Arabsat 5A, located at 30.5° East. C-band, with wide coverage and resilience to severe heavy conditions, was the first band used for satellite communications and currently plays a vital role in the global telecommunications industry.
“The new capacity on Arabsat BADR-6, together with the additional capacity on Arabsat 5A, reinforces our presence in the market allowing us to expand our already vast range of satellite coverage across the region,” said Alan Afrasiab, President and CEO of Talia Limited. “Our continued collaboration with Arabsat is a proven example of [a] successful partnership with a world-leading satellite operator that we are keen to nurture in the future,” Afrasiab added.
This partnership between Arabsat and Talia is set to further expand as Talia is planning to offer uplink services on Arabsat-6A, which is a high-power satellite that covers the MENA region which was launched by Arabsat in April 2019. “Talia is a leading teleport, satellite and terrestrial network operator with extensive experience of the Middle East and Africa markets”, said Khalid Balkheyour, President and CEO, Arabsat. “We are delighted to further cement our partnership with Talia in order to provide even higher quality and reliable services to unconnected communities across the MENA market,” Balkheyour added.
