Everything that happened at Apple’s annual hardware event

Calling all Apple addicts, by now you know that the tech giant unveiled a number of upcoming products – the most anticipated of which being the latest series of iPhones. (ICYMI – the hardware extravaganza took place on Tuesday, 10 September 2019, at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus.)

At the ‘by innovation only’ event, amongst other things, Apple showcased its 2019 iPhone lineup which includes three new models; the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Here’s a closer look at the devices:

iPhone 11

• New colours include white, black, yellow, red, lavender, and green
• 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display
• 2 rear camera lenses: 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a new 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view
• New camera modes, including Night Mode; 4K video at 60 frames per second
• A13 Bionic chip – According to Apple, it’s the fastest CPU/GPU ever used by a smartphone – capable of 1 trillion operations per second
• Fast-charging
• Pricing starts at $699

iPhone 11 Pro

• New colours include midnight green, space grey, silver, and gold
• 5.8-inch Super Retina XDR screen
• Improved battery life: 4 hours more than the iPhone XS
• Fast-charging 18-watt adapter
• 3 cameras— 2-megapixel wide-angle lens, 12-megapixel telephoto lens and 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with 120-degree field of view
• 4K video recording including Night Mode
• Pricing starts at $999

iPhone Pro Max

• New colours include midnight green, space grey, silver, and gold
• 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR screen, with a 2-million-to-1 contrast ratio, HDR 10, Dolby Vision
• A13 Bionic chip – According to Apple, it’s the fastest CPU/GPU ever used by a smartphone – capable of 1 trillion operations per second
• Improved battery life: 4 hours more than the iPhone XS Max
• 3 cameras— 2-megapixel wide-angle lens, 12-megapixel telephoto lens and 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with 120-degree field of view
• Deep Fusion feature coming later in 2019 – shoots 9 images, selects the best pixels, and optimises for details and low noise
• Pricing starts at $999

Following the launch of the iPhones, Apple introduced its latest generation wearable, the Watch Series 5 – which aims to focus on user fitness, biometrics and health research. Take a look at the specs:

• Always-on retina display so wearers can always see the time
• 18-hour battery life
• Cases made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium
• New titanium and ceramic models
• Pricing starts at $399 for the GPS model and $499 for the Cellular model

And finally, Apple revealed the iPad 2019 – with improved brightness and viewing angles to create a better gaming and content consuming experience. Here are all the details:

• 10.2-inch retina display with 3.5 million pixels
• A10 Fusion chip making it, according to Apple, 2X faster than top-selling PC
• New iPad OS optimisation
• Smart Connector plus a new smart keyboard cover made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium
• Pricing starts at $329
