Rockstar Games, the video game publisher famed for titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 and LA Noire, have announced Red Dead Online, an online accompaniment to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead Online is set to launch in November 2018 as a public beta, but there are plans to change that later.
Red Dead Online will make use of Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation for gameplay and according to developers can be explored alone or with friends and will be constantly updated and adjusted in order to grow and evolve the experience for all players.
During a Q&A with developers Josh Needleman and Imran Sarwar, IGN confirmed that Red Dead Online will have the same amount of open-world freedom and use the same gameplay mechanics as Red Dead Redemption 2. They also confirmed that the online multiplayer was made with their favourite elements from Grand Theft Auto Online in mind to create a fun, complex, competitive, and cooperative experience in a vast open world for players to explore and enjoy.
Access to Red Dead Online is free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
