Nigeria’s Rack Centre, a carrier neutral data centre, has yet again won at the well-respected annual Beacon of ICT awards. Rack Centre, for the third year running, walked away as winners in the ‘IT Infrastructure Provider of the Year (Data Centre)’ category, and for the second year running, won in the ‘ICT Infrastructure Provider of the Year’ category.
The Beacon of ICT award recognises organisation and individual contribution to the development of ICT in Nigeria. It is an annual event organised by news outlet Nigeria’s Communications Week.
Communications Week in the announcements towards the 2017 awards said Rack Centre vote was a testament to its “talents, innovations, contributions and commitment to the growth of the ICT not only in Nigeria but in Africa and a demonstration of the recognition of hard work, sincerity and dedication towards the development of Data Centre industry and ICT infrastructure in Africa.’’
Ayotunde Coker, the Managing Director at Rack Centre, won the ICT Personality of the Year for 2016 and thus delivered the year’s Distinguished Lecture on the subject “Data Centre as Kiln of Industrialisation and Transformation”.
Coker outlined his delighted that Rack Centre was selected as finalist by the judges, and to have then been voted by the public and IT community for such recognition and prestigious awards.
