Facebook has announced the launch of a camera with art and special effects in a bid make conversations better. The feature, available on the Facebook Messenger app is due to roll out globally over the coming days.
The introduction of the Messenger camera aims to make communication even simpler. With messaging becoming more visual, over 2.5 billion emojis, photos, stickers and videos are sent every day on Messenger. In some ways the camera is now replacing the keyboard and more people use Messenger in their everyday lives.
The camera is a tap away, it works whether you’re already in a conversation or have just opened up the app. You will see the shutter button center in the screen (it’s been dressed up for the Holidays!) a tap takes photo, a long press records a video. Facebook is also introducing a place to find new art and special effects, 3D masks and special effects, which make it super easy to apply an artistic filter to your full screen photo and to turn your world into a work of art.
Other added features include thousands of stickers, frames, masks, and effects to choose from. These can personalized exactly how you want to use it. Facebook worked with artists and influencers all over the world and these artists have added their own touch to the customization tools you can now use in Messenger.
Unique to Messenger is the palette icon by the shutter which will take you to a blank canvas where you can add art and stickers to your text. Facebook aims to make interaction more personal and emotive with the newly introduced features.
