The data package includes an additional 5 minutes of Internet connection outside of Saudi Arabia, while the voice/SMS package includes 5 minutes of free calls outside of Saudi Arabia.

Orange has added to its existing offering for travellers with two prepaid offers for those visiting Saudi Arabia. The ‘Going to Saudi Arabia’ offers are powered through the company’s launch of a light MVNO in Saudi Arabia.

The SIM card offering is available in standard, micro and nano-sim formats and includes two packages – voice/SMS or data.  The data package offers unlimited access to Internet/data services in Saudi Arabia, while the voice/SMS package offers 1 hour of phone calls and unlimited SMS’s – both offering travellers the opportunity to stay connected while being in control of the charges associated with this.

The data package includes an additional 5 minutes of Internet connection outside of Saudi Arabia, while the voice/SMS package includes 5 minutes of free calls outside of Saudi Arabia, in order to allow travellers the opportunity to share their phone number with their family, friends or colleagues before departing.

The voice/SMS package includes an hour of phone calls and unlimited SMS’s from Saudi Arabia to local networks, as well as networks across Europe, Turkey and South Africa. While the data package does not currently include voice capabilities, it allows users to make calls using the Internet, through apps such as Orange’s Libon or Whatsapp, for example. The credit is valid for 45 days, allowing customers to use their SIM card throughout their journey.

“The ‘Going to Saudi Arabia’ packages are not only relevant for pilgrims interested in performing the Hajj and Umrah, and travellers visiting Saudi Arabia who would like to communicate using a local SIM card, but also for those from Saudi Arabia who work abroad. The packages provide a cost-effective solution that allows users to stay connected when visiting Saudi Arabia, ” explains Orange Horizons CEO, Sebastien Crozier. “These offers were designed specifically for Orange, and are in line with our goal of providing convenient packages at competitive prices for our customers.”

The Going to Saudi Arabia packages are another example of Orange’s move to offer dedicated services for travelers, following the launch of the Orange Holiday package, a SIM card including 2 hours of calls, 1000 SMSs and 1GB of data for travelers visiting Europe.

The Going to Saudi Arabia packages are available from both the Orange online store and physical store, situated in Claremont, Cape Town.
