Africa’s first media exchange platform, the Africa Media Exchange (AMX), was present at the 2015 Mediatech Africa Expo. Also in attendance was the AMX founding partners Workonline Communications and Teraco Data Environments.
According to both companies, AMX allows broadcasters, content distribution networks and content producers the ability to interconnect in a single location. Once connected, partners are able to exchange live streams or share media files in real time. The powerful engine of the AMX ensures that the streams or files are delivered to their destination securely, and in the correct format.
AMX was launched from within Teraco’s neutral colocation data centre, which houses the exchange. Workonline Communications provides the necessary network technology, innovation and expertise required for the exchange of media, as well as a custom designed connectivity service between the content providers and content distributors.
