According to a report by EWN, former Bafana Bafana football star, John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu has passed away. The South African Football Association (Safa) joined the rest of the country in passing their condolences onto his family.
According to the report, Safa President, Dr Danny Jordaan, said he was shocked by the news.
“I saw him on Monday evening when I visited him at the clinic and although he was not in good shape, he recognised me and even spoke a bit; little did I know that this was some way of him saying goodbye. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends for their loss; I hope they find strength in these difficult times. As the Association, the passing on of this legend saddens us,” said Dr Jordaan.
The report revealed that, the former Bafana midfielder played 73 games for his country and was an integral part of the squad that won Africa Cup of Nations in 1996.
African residents have reached out to social media in order to send out their condolences to the player’s family.
