The latest device from mobile manufacturer Apple has been revealed. According to Apple, its latest devices comes in the form of a Smart Watch. The device has been dubbed the “Apple Watch”, and is expected to launch on 24 April 2015 in nine markets – which include: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, UK and US; however, no launch date has been set for the African continent.
According to Apple, the Apple Watch will be available for pre-order from 10 April 2015. The Apple Watch will come in at a starting price of $349; however, Apple has revealed that it also plans to launch a 18-karat gold edition – which comes in at a staggering $10,000 USD. To add to this, the line has been split into three collections: Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition.
The cost-conscious Apple Watch starts at $349 USD and comes with a 38mm body. For $399 USD you can get a 42mm casing, which comes with anodised aluminium body, and is available in silver or space grey. Additionally, you also get a matching high-performance fluoroelastomer sport band.
That’s just the entry level devices. When looking at the Apple Watch Edition, you can expect to pay $10,000 USD for a 18-carat gold device. According to Apple, it will also come with custom-designed bands and will be available in limited quantities.
Apple also revealed that the device will be iPhone compatible. This will allow users to read emails and keep in touch with contacts via Digital Touch. Apple also stated that users will have the ability to answer calls via the Apple Watch.
During his presentation Apple CEO, Tim Cook, revealed that the device will have an all day battery, which is expected to last up to 18 hours (Dependent on Usage). Cook also revealed that the device will come with a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope. In addition to this it will also feature a speaker, microphone, Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0.
