The University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and Dimension Data revealed the formation of the Dimension Data Programme in Digital Disruption, which will be funded by Dimension Data through a sponsorship endowment to GIBS.

The programme aims to contribute to South Africa’s national development by increasing the awareness and understanding among business leaders, as well as the public sector, of the impact and opportunities of digital technologies on industry competitiveness, social cohesion and economic growth.

Ian James, programme director for Digital Disruption at GIBS said; “GIBS is pleased to be associated with Dimension Data, a leading provider of information technology solutions and services.

“No company can operate today without technology; yet many business leaders struggle to keep up with the phenomenal pace of technological change and the opportunities it presents. I believe that the Dimension Data Programme in Digital Disruption will equip South African leaders with the knowledge and tools to anticipate and harness digital disruption to the benefit of their organisations and the nation as a whole.”

The programme will combine academic research and publications with executive education and dialogue with the aim of reaching thousands of executives and senior managers throughout the duration of the programme and beyond.

Derek Wilcocks, CEO of Dimension Data Middle East and Africa said, “Dimension Data is pleased to be part of this initiative and look forward to working with GIBS to make a meaningful contribution to the executive education ecosystem in the country. Working with a world class business school such as GIBS significantly enhances our ability to positively contribute towards our digital economy in South Africa and the African continent”.
