Vodafone Ghana has rewarded the winners of the App Star competition, after the final contest was held in Accra. According to Vodafone, the App Star contest is a mobile app competition that uncover creative and innovative app developers in Ghana. Furthermore, the competitions allows for app developers to compete against international developers.
The annual contest, which is categorised into start-up and established developers, is part of efforts by Vodafone to bolster the app developer community in Ghana.
Gayheart Mensah, Head of External Affairs at Vodafone Ghana stated that “the App contest is Vodafone’s approach to pioneering mobile innovation in the technology and app developer industry in Ghana.”
This year’s winners include the developers of Vicinity Apps. The app developer won the start-up contest, while Africa Legends won the established developers category. Both winners were awarded prizes worth GHC 10,000 and an all-expense paid trip to India to participate in the global App Star competition on 15 January 2015.
